Call for Tutorial Proposals

The IEEE International Conference on Multimedia Information Processing and Retrieval (MIPR) 2026 invites proposals for high-quality tutorials to be held in conjunction with the conference.

Tutorials provide an excellent opportunity for researchers and practitioners to gain in-depth understanding of emerging and established topics in multimedia information processing and retrieval. We encourage proposals that address cutting-edge research directions, practical systems, and interdisciplinary themes aligned with the technical scope of MIPR.

Topics of Interest

Tutorial proposals are welcome on all topics related to multimedia information processing and retrieval, including (but not limited to):

  • Multimedia content analysis and understanding
  • Multimedia retrieval, search, and recommendation
  • Vision-language and multimodal foundation models
  • Multimodal representation learning
  • Multimedia for healthcare, education, smart cities, and social good
  • Multimedia security, privacy, and forensics
  • Efficient and scalable multimedia computing
  • Edge and cloud-based multimedia systems
  • Human-centered multimedia systems and evaluation
  • Responsible, ethical, and trustworthy AI for multimedia

Tutorial Format

Each tutorial will have a duration of 3 hours, including a 20-minute break, and will take place on August 9, 2026. Presenters are encouraged to provide supporting materials (e.g., slides, code repositories, datasets, reading lists) to maximize impact and community engagement.

Target Audience

Tutorials should be accessible to a broad MIPR audience, including graduate students, researchers, and industry practitioners. Proposals should specify the expected background of participants.

Proposal Submission Guidelines

Tutorial proposals should be submitted in PDF format and must be no longer than 4 pages. All proposals should include the following information:

    1. Title of the tutorial
    2. Tutorial abstract (max. 200 words) suitable for the conference website
    3. Motivation and relevance to MIPR and the multimedia community
    4. Detailed outline of the tutorial content, including time allocation
    5. Learning objectives and target audience
    6. Short biographies of the presenters, highlighting expertise and prior tutorial experience, and including a link to their personal webpage and/or publication record
    7. Logistical requirements (if any)

Proposals will be evaluated based on relevance to MIPR themes, timeliness and significance of the topic, technical depth and clarity of the proposed content, expertise and experience of the presenters, and potential interest to the MIPR community.
